At one point or another in every person’s life, there comes a time in which we seek guidance. Life can be complicated and messy, and the need to and some sort of help or guiding hand which leads us to the answers making life easier, or better able to be handled is constantly on people’s minds. For some, that guidance comes from counselors and teachers at a young age, while for others, mentors will come along in our careers to help shape our path for us.
For many however, that guidance comes from their spiritual leaders, and in author Phyllis. Ames-Bey’s What the Three as One Revealed to Me: A Spiritual Journey, the author ands guidance through her faith and her religious mentor. Through a series of essays, the author expresses the lessons learned through her spiritual journey, and the impact her Christian faith has had on her life, especially in terms of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit acting in tandem as one entity in her life.
The author managed to craft a truly original and personal collection of essays capturing the emotional and spiritual journey she underwent in her life. Delving into personal experiences and growth that she lived through in her life, the passages found in this book not only feel personal but relatable to issues and struggles which we all face in life. The balance the author found between the personal memories and feelings she experienced in life with biblical passages and studies which came from developing her relationship with her faith.
This is the perfect book for those who enjoy non-action storytelling, especially those which focus on essays written by the author and subject matter that involves religion, specially Christian faith. The attention to detail and passion for which the author writes on this topic is greatly felt in the context of this book, and the fast pacing of the essays overall allows the readers not only to dive deeper into the author’s themes and heart, but will leave a book people could easily return to time and time again in the future.

Abba Father knows no limits and does not have limits on Him.
In this compilation of scriptures and commentary, the author uses writings gathered over seven years, which were compiled in a twenty-four-hour period from November 21, 2021, to November 22, 2021. The book is an intimate portrait of Ames-Bey’s “relationship with Abba Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as one entity.” Chapters include evocative titles such as “Being a Soldier in God’s Army,” “Having a Relationship with God,” “How We Know Jesus Exists and Why,” “Obedience to God,” and “The Spiritual Revolutionary Revival of the Holy People of God.” The author also includes chapters that deal with women’s equality and political issues.
In this short volume, Ames-Bey includes pertinent scriptures that touch upon each of the chapter topics as well as her own personal experiences with gleaning meaning from scripture. Throughout the book, she offers encouragement for others to read the Bible and pray for God’s enlightenment personally. It is evident from the start that the author is compelled to share her understanding of scripture and God’s relationship to humanity. Her sincerity in hoping to bring others to a belief in God, especially the doctrine of the Trinity as one entity, comes through on each page. Ames-Bey candidly reveals personal stories and encounters to help those who read her work. Though her book is brief, it holds a great deal of important biblical passages that reveal exactly what is expected of believers. The narrative serves as a welcoming invitation into the life of the author as well as into the body of Christ. In short, this is a good reference book for anyone looking for spiritual guidance.

She doesn’t mind sharing her life stories to help others and she is very transparent as reflected in her books especially the books containing her poems. Her books represent who she is as a writer, woman, mother and child of God.
